Random Name Picker
The Random Name Picker is a free wheel of names that chooses a name at random from your list, for classrooms, giveaways, teams and raffles.
Paste the names one per line, spin, and the wheel picks one fairly. Every name has the same chance, and the result is decided by your browser's secure random number generator before the wheel starts turning.
Teachers use it to call on students, streamers use it to draw giveaway winners, and groups use it to decide turn order. Press Remove after each pick to make sure no name is chosen twice.

Ways to Use the Random Name Picker
-
Calling on Students
Pick a student to answer so participation is fair across the class.
-
Giveaways and Raffles
Draw a winner live where everyone can watch the result.
-
Teams and Groups
Spin names one at a time to build random teams.
-
Turn Order
Decide who goes first in a game or who presents next.
Random Name Picker vs. Drawing Names from a Hat
Drawing from a hat takes preparation and only the person drawing sees the slip. The Random Name Picker works with a pasted list, shows the pick to everyone, and keeps a record of every winner in the Results tab.
How to Use the Random Name Picker
Spin
Click the wheel or the Spin button at its center, or press Ctrl + Enter.
Watch It Land
The wheel ticks past each slice and slows down. Whatever stops under the pointer lights up as the result.

Go Again
Spin as often as you like. The Results tab lists every result.

Quick answers about how the wheel works, what it saves and how fair it is. Want proof? Try the randomness audit.
How do I pick a random name from a list?
Paste the names into the Entries box, one per line, then click the wheel or press Spin. The wheel lands on one name at random.
Can I stop the same name being picked twice?
Yes. Press Remove after each pick, or turn on Remove the winner automatically in Settings.
Is the Random Name Picker fair for a giveaway?
Yes. Every name has an equal chance, and the result can't be predicted or influenced. For proof, run the randomness audit.
How many names can I add?
There is no limit. Labels are easiest to read with up to about 50 names, but every name has the same chance however many you add.
Can I change the entries on this wheel?
Yes. Edit the Entries box next to the wheel, one entry per line, and the wheel updates as you type. Your version is saved in this browser, and Reset brings back the template's entries.
Does the wheel keep my results?
Yes. The Results tab lists every spin, newest first, until you clear it or leave the page. Your entries and settings stay saved in this browser.
Does this wheel work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
What if I don't like the result?
Spin again. If a result disappoints you, that can be a useful sign of what you really wanted.
